Crews across the Coast cleaning up beaches after 4th of July celebrations
July 5th is a busy day for city and county workers having to clear off litter from our beaches and roadways.
Last night, the 4th of July Celebration on Front Beach in Ocean Springs was illuminating the night sky with fireworks. The beach was filled with spectators enjoying the show, but now there’s only remnants of the celebration left behind and now it’s time for the cleanup.
The city’s public works crews were collecting the litter this morning which will take days especially with the rainy conditions. Gabriel Carlton with the City of Ocean Springs Public Works said, “Maybe by Thursday or Friday. It’s been a little rough, the rain is coming to. Now, we’re in the middle of it.”
Earlier this morning, crews with Harrison County had an early start and will be working through the week to clean up the beaches.
