Crash on Highway 43 in Pearl River County leaves one dead, one injured

Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 43 in Pearl River County Wednesday.

According to authorities, a 2017 Nissan Rouge was traveling south on Highway 43 when it collided with a 2015 Kia Soul.

The driver of the Kia Soul, identified as 46-year-old Jonathan Helmers, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Nissan Rouge was transported to the hospital with injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
