CRASE training at the Missionary Baptist Church of Handsboro

The Missionary Baptist Church of Handsboro hosted an official training exercise from the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security for their civilian response to active shooter (CRASE) training.
This event will help churches think through plans for emergency situations in which masses of people need to be moved, protected or defended. The training was free and open to all Mississippi Gulf Coast clergy and church leaders.
It offered practical tips for securing the safety of their worshipping communities, responding to an active shooter situation, and working with local law enforcement.
Pastor S.V. Adolph prays emergency protocols aren’t needed and continues to pray for better days. “We pray the things we learn to do in this setting we never have to do. Our prayers are still going forth for those who have been victims of an active shooter in this country. I certainly pray that something is done with reference to legislation and reference to our gun laws.”
The next CRASE training will take place on March 1st at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Gulfport.
