Crab Festival in Bay St. Louis

The heat did not keep the crowds from flocking to Bay St. Louis this weekend for the 23rd annual Crab Festival.
More than 6,000 pounds of fresh crab and 3,000 pounds of Gulf shrimp were cooked and served over the three day event. The festival, hosted at Our Lady of the Gulf Church, had 85 vendors selling a wide range of items and carnival rides for kids of all ages.
The event raises money for the church and over the past few years they have raised around $300,000. Crab Festival Co-Chair Laura Griffith said, “This is the only fundraiser for Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and it helps pay a lot of bills. You know in summer time those air conditioners in church really get up there so it helps.”
The food, music, and fun brought in a record amount of people this year and Crab Festival organizers hope it will be reflected in the amount of money raised.
