Countdown to Noon
While most of us will be staying up late tonight to ring in the New Year, many children won’t make it that long.
This afternoon, the ball dropped as the clock struck noon at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center’s “Noon’s Year” party, where children were ringing in the year early.
This is the center’s fifth annual Countdown to Noon. Each year, it gets bigger with nearly 500 children in attendance today. Lynn Meadows Discovery Center Executive Director Cindy DeFrances said, “Adults seem to have a good time on New Year’s Eve. We just want to make sure kids have a great time.” Kimberly Parker attended the event and she said, “It’s just so wonderful to have something like this where children can all participate and it’s a great mix of play time and art projects and music. I think this is our new tradition.”
Although it was early, these kids had a bash, just like the adults do. Even if they don’t make it until midnight tonight, they were still able to countdown to a ball drop and shake their noisemakers.
