Controversial State Flag Issues Tupelo City Council

The Tupelo City Council is expected to discuss Mississippi’s controversial state flag this week.
Council president Lynn Bryan plans to bring up a resolution before the city council that will ask the legislature for a new state flag.

The council is also expected to discuss a proposal to prevent the current flag from being placed on a flag pole in front of a new police station. The $10 million station is slated to open soon and is located at a historically black neighborhood.

The issues are expected to be discussed during a review session today and could be booted to a council work session scheduled for a later date.
