Construction to Begin on Cowan Lorraine Bridge
After nearly a decade, the county has finally secured all the funds and has signed a contract to begin the construction of a bridge replacement on the Biloxi River at Cowan Lorraine Road. The county has been working on getting the project off the ground for a number of years, having secured contracts only to have them fall through. The board is just happy the project is finally coming to fruition.
Connie Rocko, President of the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, says, “Well, it’s a safety issue and it’s also an economic development issue. There’s a lot of traffic and as our county and as our unincorporated area grows, we will need adequate transportation. That bridge is in deplorable condition and we want to make sure we have safety for our citizens of Harrison County.”
Construction will begin sometime within the next two months.
