Conservation Education Field Day

Hundreds of students in Harrison County spent the day outside of the classroom and had a chance to explore nature.

Students took part in the Conservation Education Field Day hosted by the Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District. They had a chance to explore the natural habitats in their community’s own backyard and learn about various environmental topics from agriculture to animals.

Cheryl High was one of the many educators for the day and kids had a chance to learn about the water shed when they stopped by her tent. “We explain to them that there’s this amount of water and there are places in this world that get no water and people can’t survive, animals can’t survive, that tree can’t survive. So, what are we going to do? It’s our responsibility.”

Harrison County Sheriff’s Department even stopped by to give the kids a lesson on anti-bullying.
