Congressman Palazzo tours shipyard
Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula is a critical part of expanding the amount of ships the United States Navy can set sail. Today congressmen were getting a close look.
Mississippi Congressman Steven Palazzo and Virginia Congressman Robb Wittman walked the shipyard, met with Ingalls leaders, and checked out the recent improvements made at the shipyard.
Wittman is the chairman of the Seapower and Project Forces who approves all the ships that are going to be built for the Navy.
Palazzo tells News 25 it was a great experience. “Not only is it an opportunity to see the kind of work that we’re doing, but also to find out what do we need to make it an even better shipyard and provide a better product for the customer, the Navy and Marine Corp and also the tax payer that is going to make sure our men and women do their job safely and come back home to the ones they love.”
Palazzo tells News 25 in the spring, committees will discuss the importance of supporting the infrastructure of the shipyard in making sure these ships are both lethal and survivable.
