Congressman Not Attending Inauguration

Congressman Bennie Thompson will not attend President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration Friday. He confirmed with WJTV in Jackson today that he wasn’t going to the ceremony.
More than 30 other House Democrats plan to boycott Trump’s inauguration. Thompson said that he won’t attend in support of Congressman John Lewis.
Representatives Steve Cohen from Tennessee, Jerrold Nadler of New York, and Don Beyer of Virginia on Monday joined a growing list of lawmakers who will not attend Trump’s swearing in at the Capitol. They are not attending because Trump lashed out at Representative Lewis on Saturday for challenging his legitimacy to be the next president.
Thompson also said Trump should stop making comments on Twitter and to just be the commander in chief.
Congressman Thompson represents Mississippi’s second district.
