Congressman Mike Ezell visits communication tower in Jackson County

Congressman Mike Ezell and other local officials made a stop in Jackson County to visit a communications tower site for better communications for local dispatch in the county.

They toured the tower compound located in East Moss Point. The officials were given a rundown on the day-to-day operations.

At the event, hosted by NATE, the Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association, MillerCo, and Communications International.

The group detailed the work it takes to maintain and deploy communications sites, related wireless/broadband infrastructure, and more.

The site went under a three month renovation to enable better backup power and fuel generators, applied a new antenna system, and a hurricane proof shelter to better allow local first responders to adequately dispatch. Congressman Ezell said, “It’s so important to have good communication. When you’re out there in the middle of the night and the weather is bad, you’ve got to have good communication. So, this is going to be a big asset to Jackson County.”

MillerCo President Jimmy Miller said, “We had met the congressman in Washington, D.C. regarding some issues facing our industry. He was able to help us. I was glad he was able to be here in the field to see what it takes to get it done.”
