Conference USA Tournament: Southern Miss vs. La Tech

From here on out, every Conference USA Tournament game is win or go home for Southern Miss. Today, the Golden Eagles needed to eliminate Louisiana Tech to avoid that same fate on their second day in Biloxi.
A big sigh of relief for the C-USA regular season champs who win it by the count of 5-2. Second baseman Matthew Guidry said, “Oh, well I mean the train has already started. We just left the station. So I mean when we get to having that quick, we had to lose at some point. So, I mean I think last time we lost we started a 14-game win streak.”
Southern Miss Pitcher Kirk McCarty said, “That was something that we got back from our Oak Grove days. So credit to Guidry, he’s playing out of his mind right now. Love watching that guy compete, I mean he’s impressed me more than anyone.”
Southern Miss Head Baseball Coach Scott Berry said, “”It’s like taking a final exam, man. Get it over. You study, get it over. And that’s what it was this morning. I wanted to get back on that field, get back on that bull and ride that dude. And we had a tough one to ride today. Their guys did a great job of keeping our offense down, but our guys responded early and did what it took to win the baseball game in the end.”
The Golden Eagles play the loser of UTSA and Charlotte tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
