Confederate Flag Vote
The House of Representatives have voted to ban Confederate flags from being flown on flagpoles at veteran’s administration cemeteries.
However, the measure would allow people to mark their ancestors’ graves with a small Confederate flag, but only on two days a year: Memorial Day and Confederate Memorial Day.
California Democrat Jared Huffman wrote the amendment. He says the flag represents “racism, slavery, and division.”
The measure passed 265 to 159. It is unclear if it will actually become law because it has not yet passed the Senate.
