Conditions After Massive Blaze
Smoke lingers in Jackson County following Sunday’s massive blaze which engulfed over 500 acres of land.
Traffic flowed smoothly this morning on I-10 and Highway 90 in Moss Point after multiple lanes were blocked Sunday afternoon.
Visibility also did not seem to be an issue…even though smoke remains on the east side of the interstate.
Officials tell News 25 an abandoned vehicle caught on fire south of Highway 90 and strong winds caused the flames to take over east Jackson County.
“With the wind conditions, the low humidity that we’ve got, everybody needs to be real cautious about any kind of fires, you got your small trash fires, bonfires, stuff like that, make sure you monitor closely, keep them under control because it doesn’t take long for tings to really get out of hand.”

Over a dozen law enforcement and fire agencies battled the blaze in east Jackson County.
Fortunately there were no reported injuries or homes damaged from the flames.
