Community vaccine event at the Gulfport Premium Outlets

Gulfport Premium Outlets partnered with Singing River Health System to host a vaccination event in hopes of getting more people vaccinated along the Coast.

The state of Mississippi is out of ICU beds with zero capacity. Due to this, emergency rooms are holding ICU level patients in emergency room beds.

Mississippi has had an uptick in people getting vaccinated due to the rapid spread of the delta variant.  One hundred and sixty-six million people have been vaccinated in the United States and of those people only 6,587 have been hospitalized.

Mississippi Currently has 34.8 percent of people fully vaccinated. Singing River Clinical Pharmacist Chris Ayers said, “We have seen with this delta variant and some of the other variants out there is that really it doesn’t matter what age you are. We are seeing more and more younger people come into our system and they are getting sick. So, I think just seeing that the reality of that has definitely led people to think they need to go ahead and get vaccinated.”
