Community takes part in FBI Citizens Academy

Community members from across the area are taking part in a three-day FBI Citizens Academy course at the Ocean Springs Police Department.

The FBI Citizens Academy is a bureau-wide program that will give community leaders an inside look into what the FBI does.

The program will help to foster a greater understanding of the role of law enforcement in the community through candid discussion and education,

A wide range of topics and interactive programs will give the participants a real feel for the FBI work.

“We are hoping all graduates of the FBI Citizens Academy walk away with a better perspective about what the Federal Bureau of Investigation does, who it is, what its mission set is, and also how the FBI in Mississippi operates and serves its community,” said Jessica Orench, an assistant special agent in the FBI Jackson field.

At the end of the program, graduates are encouraged to join the local FBI Citizens Academy alumni chapter to strengthen relationships and improve understanding between the FBI and the community.
