Community leaders receive prestigious awards at Chamber-Main Street Annual Meeting

(Ocean Springs, Miss) – The Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau announced recipients of its annual community awards on Wednesday, February 21.

The ceremony was in conjunction with the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street’s Annual meeting.

The City of Ocean Springs and Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street honored outstanding community members who have made an extraordinary contribution in service, economic development, and quality of life to the community in 2023.

Awards were given in the following categories: Educator of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Community Leader of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Ocean Springs First Responder of the Year, Main Street of the Year, and 2023 Board President recognition.

The winners were:

  • Volunteers of the Year, Don Atwell
  • Community Leader of the Year, Kevin Wade
  • First Responder of the Year, Fire – Battalion Chief Jacob Jones, Ocean Springs Fire Department
  • First Responder of the Year, Police – Deputy Chief, Ocean Springs Police Department
  • Restaurant of the Year – Kilwins, Kimberly and JC Green
  • Retailer of the Year – Spice and Tea Merchants of Ocean Springs, Kacie Marvin
  • Main Street of the Year –Joyce Champion with Champion Gourmet
  • Ambassador of the Year – Shannon Rowell, Secret Coast Security • Entrepreneur of the Year – Kenny Williams with Mosaic Restaurant
  • Educator of the Year – Elizabeth Jackson, Ocean Springs High School • 2023 President Appreciation Award – Sandra Carter
