Community leader Carmelita Scott passes away

Carmelita J. Scott, a community leader, passed away suddenly on Thursday.

Many took to social media to express their love and condolences.

Scott served on the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Board for seven years and dedicated a lot of her time volunteering at many community events along the Coast.

Scott served on the Coast chamber board for two years.

She was also chair of the chamber’s diversity council while leading the way, advocating for minority small businesses along the Coast.

Scott was a ‘top 10 under 40’ One Coast awards recipient in 2020.
