Community gives back after Woolmarket Elementary classroom robbed

At the beginning of the month, a local classroom at Woolmarket Elementary School was robbed. The community has come together to give back to this teacher and her students.

On Sunday, May 5th, Tina Abshire’s classroom was robbed. The criminals walked away with multiple ukuleles and a ton of art supplies. They also vandalized the classroom. “I was just a little devastated and just saddened that someone would take items from children who need them so much.”

After hearing about the break in, the Wharton Smith Construction Group decided to replace all of the supplies that were stolen. Brenda Lancaster with Wharton Smith Construction Group said, “I think when people step forward, it makes everything go smoothly and blesses the people who need it.”

Now with the new supplies, students like Wyatt Lamar will be able to learn how to play ukulele. Wyatt was jumping for joy when he saw the new supplies. “I felt like it was really cool and I was excited to start doing it again.”

Wyatt isn’t the only one who is excited. Mrs. Abshire said she could not be happier about this act of kindness. “I was thrilled that there are people in the community that are so kind and giving and generous and we are forever grateful to them.”
