Community gathers for Fallen Officer Remembrance Ceremony at Biloxi Police Department

The Biloxi community gathered to remember local police officers who have died in the line of duty.

The Biloxi Police Department held a remembrance ceremony just outside the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center.

Officers read the names of the five fallen officers from the department, including Officer Robert McKeithen, who was shot and killed just outside the police department four years ago.

McKeithen’s patrol cruiser and honor chair were also on display at the ceremony. Biloxi Police Chief John Miller said, “Having this is not only important for the family members of the fallen officers and the memory of the fallen officers, but it’s also important for our department. You know this is a, a large family, and this this is part of what makes a family is getting together like this. Most of the officers that are here never knew any of these fallen officers, they never knew him, but nonetheless, they feel a kinship.”

Officers from across the state who died in 2022 and this year were also recognized.
