Community gathered for D’Iberville State of the City address

The City of D’Iberville held its annual State of the City to update the community on what the city has accomplished and what’s ahead.

Community members and city leaders gathered at the D’Iberville Community Center to hear all about the progress the city is making and to recognize those making a difference within the community.

The city is developing new businesses including Chipotle Mexican Grill which will open on May 9th.

The city also has infrastructure projects going on including Lamey Bridge Road sidewalks project, the I-10 Marina expansion, and Arbor View Apartments adding nine new buildings. Mayor Rusty Quave said, “Retail sales have been really great, but we are looking to improve them. We got businesses that want to come in and bigger projects such as the Sports Illustrated project. We are looking at maybe two to three months signing a contract with them and then going forward with the waterfront development downtown. We are really excited about that; we got a master plan on it.”

Quave also touched on the major movie being filmed at the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort and the attention it is bringing to the area.
