Community enjoys 18th annual Red, White and Blueberry Festival in Ocean Springs

The 18th annual Red, White, and Blueberry Festival in Downtown Ocean Springs drew in a huge crowd Saturday.

More than 4,000 people flooded the L&N Depot Plaza. Guests were treated to free Kilwins ice cream topped with blueberries or strawberries.

The Red, White, and Blueberry Festival ran in conjunction with the Ocean Springs Fresh Market.

Several vendors were on display, selling their farm grown blueberries and other freshly grown produce. Gavin Deakal with Deakal Farms said, “Today is the annual Red, White, and Blueberry Festival. We had a big crowd today. We bring a lot of our produce over here each and every Saturday for the public to come and shop with us.”

Julie Bounds with Bounds Blueberries said, “Blueberries are just like people. They’re very diverse, different characteristics. Some have seeds, some don’t have seeds. Some are firmer, some are softer. You can come to our ‘you-pick’ and I’m sure other local farms and try the different varieties and find out which one you love.”

If you missed out this weekend, the Fresh Market takes place every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine in Downtown Ocean Springs.
