Community Day at Gulf Coast Research Lab in Ocean Springs
The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs is celebrating 75 years of exploration with a community day.
The University of Southern Mississippi invites locals out to the laboratory for a community day this Saturday, October 14th, from a 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public for them to come explore the lab and learn what research they have accomplished in 75 years.
There will be activities for the whole family as well as exhibits and refreshments.
This campus isn’t as open to the public so directors are excited to share what they do. Gulf Coast Research Lab Director Dr. Kelly Darnell said, “So, we’re really using this as an opportunity to not only celebrate, but to open our doors to show people what it is that we do. From animals in the ocean to understanding water flow and plants. And really getting hands-on experiences with things that we see every day that are really important to our coastal communities.”
The event is free and open to the public.
