Community comes together for Leaders against Litter cleanup event

First Lady Elee Reeves, Harrison County leaders, and community members all came together to participate in the Leaders against Litter Pickup event.

From Pass Christian all the way to Biloxi, people grouped together to pick up trash across the beaches, streets, and parks.

Gloves, trash pickers, and buckets were provided to each volunteer.

After the cleanup, those who participated gathered together for lunch provided by Newks in Gulfport and to hear from First Lady Reeves. “We are trying to get everybody fired up about helping clean up and just the importance of cleaning up in your communities. I think it is so great that we have all these different towns and cities kind of coming together to do one huge day.”

Harrison County Beautification Commission Director Trey McKnight said, “I think it’s extremely important for the community to see their elected officials out here cleaning up. You always want a greener and cleaner environment to live in and just a happier place to live and make it more livable and it’s extremely important for all of us to do our part.”

The Harrison County Beautification Commission strives to encourage, educate, and envision a clean, green, and beautiful place to live, work, and grow.
