Community asked to come out for the Star-Spangled Cleanup
South Mississippi (WXXV)- One organization is working up clean up Mississippi beaches after the Fourth of July.
The Star-Spangled Cleanup will be happening on Saturday, July 5th – running from 8 AM to 10 AM.
Officials saying marine debris left on beaches can be washed into the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf.
This endangers wildlife, damages habitats and degrades water quality.
Locations run from Hancock to Jackson County.
Families, friends and community groups are all invited out for the fun.
Even if you can’t make these cleanups, you can still make a difference by disposing of fireworks and trash.
Small efforts help prevent pollution and protect the coastlines.
