Community Action of South Mississippi handed out school supplies at Back-to-School Drive-Thru Bash

Community Action of South Mississippi gave out free school supplies bags in Moss Point.

The Back-to-School Drive-Thru Bash helped 180 students with the supplies needed for the first day of school.

The event started at 2:30 p.m. However, within minutes, all bags were distributed to families and students in need.

Pencils, pens, paper, highlighters, glue, notebooks, and more were given away.

If you missed out today, they are doing it all over again tomorrow. Arrive early, bags are distributed first come, first serve. CSBG Case Manager Courtney Trull said, “We wanted to give out donations for school supplies since they have doubled in price. We know a lot of low-income families need it. It’s important because not all the kids can get what they need for school. Since we had the funds, we decided it would be great to do this for them so they could not get made fun of, not get bullied, kind of help them have a little bit more confidence when they start school.”

Be sure to bring your kids, they are giving out one bag per child present or one school supply bag per car.
