Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s Annual Conference

Over 800 government and transportation officials from across North America have been in Biloxi this week to learn more about advancements in the trucking industry.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is hosting the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s annual conference at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center. More than 50 vendors were on hand to showcase the latest technology when it comes to trucking safety, including infrared detection systems and advances in weigh scales and weigh-in motion systems.

The alliance’s goal is to enforce and improve safety standards in commercial vehicles across Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. CVSA Executive Director Collin Mooney said, “We don’t want to be impeding commerce and impeding trade. So, what we try to do collectively throughout North America is make sure we’re conducting commercial vehicle enforcement uniformly across state lines, across country lines, and the vendors help us be more efficient with our resources to make sure we’re doing the best that we can do.”

The convention ends tomorrow at the Beau Rivage and will be held in Wilmington, Delaware next year.
