Comeback Coolers prepare to help Hurricane Ida victims

Comeback Coolers will respond to Hurricane Ida this Saturday, September 4th.

Currently they are accepting donations of packed coolers, kid coolers, and linemen’s buckets.

Comeback Coolers provides support and aid to those in need at a very difficult time of recovery and rebuilding following a devastating storm event like Hurricane Ida.

On the Comeback Coolers Facebook page, over $10,000 has been raised so far. In Ocean Springs, donation drop off locations are at OS Lumber and Supply, Quakes Ice Creamery, and Lee Tracy on Government Street. Comeback Coolers President Heather Eason said, “We are collecting coolers and filling them, but they’re not just any coolers. These coolers are decorated with artwork and words of encouragement and inspiration, mostly from disaster survivors, people that know what it is like.”

Quakes Ice Creamery Owner Marie Garbin said, “I’m thankful as a small business owner that for all of these years of working a little bit harder than I might have wanted to that I’ve been able to have an opportunity to give back to the community.”

This Friday at 6 p.m., Comeback Coolers will host a packing party at Ocean Springs Lumber and Supply Company. You can come out to volunteer. They are anticipating at least 500 coolers.
