Color Dash 5K Returns to the Coast to Benefit Homeless Pets

The Color Dash, “The World’s Brightest 5K” is returning to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for its second year to raise much needed funds for the Humane Society of South Mississippi’s (H.S.S.M.) lifesaving programs. On Saturday, March 21, H.S.S.M. is aiming to bring hundreds of Color Dashers to Hiller Park in Biloxi to run, walk, crawl or boogie their way through the fun-filled five kilometer course while being splashed in five vibrant colors. “We had a great time at last year’s Color Dash with over 500 of our supporters,” said Krystyna Schmitt, H.S.S.M. Marketing Specialist, “And we look forward to another great event, which will generate about $15,000 to support our lifesaving programs here at H.S.S.M.”

The Color Dash 5K is an un-timed color run experience unlike any other. Appropriate for any age or fitness level, the Color Dash is more of an experience than a race and is open to participants ages 2-102. The Coast’s Color Dash will benefit the more than 8,000 homeless pets that call the Humane Society of South Mississippi (H.S.S.M.) home each year.

Registration can be completed online at www.CD5K.com and fees vary based on registration type—registrants can sign up as individuals or form a team or family group to receive a lower rate. Registration includes pre-race dance warm-up, Color Dash race entry, Color Dash t-shirt, race number, Color Dash press-on tattoo, and your very own packet of Color Dash color.

The fun starts Friday, March 20th from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. during Packet Pick-up at H.S.S.M.’s Gulfport facility, located at 2615 25th Ave, Gulfport, MS.

On race day, March 21st, same-day packet pick up and registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Hiller Park in Biloxi off of Atkinson Rd. A dance warm up will kick things off at 9 a.m. and the Color Dash will begin at 10:30 a.m. After the race there will still be plenty to do, with food, fun, and color throws during which every runner will simultaneously release their color packet into the air in a burst of unbelievable color.
