Cold weather shelters opening on the Coast

In anticipation of the cold weather coming to our area, cold weather shelters are opening on the Coast.
All three Community Saferooms in Pearl River County will open as warming centers at 6:00PM on Saturday January 18th. Pets are not allowed. (Please bring anything you may need (food, water, etc.)
Those warming centers are located at:
- Poplarville Community Saferoom 124 Rodeo Street
- Carriere Community Saferoom 7431 Highway 11 South
- Picayune Community Saferoom 501 Laurel Street
Harrison County shelters will begin sheltering on Sunday, January 19th.
The Agricola Shelter in George County will open tomorrow Sunday January 19, 2025 at 4 pm as a cold weather shelter. If you plan to come to the shelter be sure to bring you on bedding (sleeping bags, cot, blankets), snacks and food, medication, etc. The shelter is located at 3161 Cooks Corner Rd.
Hancock County will open a cold weather shelter Sunday, January 19th at 6 p.m. That center is at the Emergency Operations Center located at 18333 Highway 603 in the Kiln. If you need a ride to the shelter, contact Hancock County Central Dispatch at 228-255-9191.
