Cold weather shelters opening in South Mississippi

Due to anticipated cold weather, shelters are opening in South Mississippi.

In Harrison County, two shelters will be opening to the public on Monday, February 23:

  • The Kenny Fournier Multipurpose Building in D’Iberville opens at 4:30 p.m.
  • In Gulfport, the Salvation Army Center of Hope will open at 6 p.m.

Transportation assistance is available in Harrison County. Call CTA at 228-896-8080 for more information.

In Pearl River County, the Poplarville Community Saferoom will open Monday at 6 p.m. Pets are not allowed. Residents are asked to bring anything you may need to the shelter.

In Jackson County, a warming station will open at 5 p.m. at the Jackson County Fair Hall in Pascagoula.  Transportation assistance is available. Residents should contact their local law enforcement agency.
