Cold Weather Shelters Opening Around The Coast

In anticipation of cold weather in our area, cold weather shelters are opening in South Mississippi.

The Hancock County Emergency Management Agency will open a cold weather shelter from February 19th to the 20th. The shelter is located at the Emergency Operations Center Building at 18333 Highway 603 Kiln. The shelter will be open beginning at 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. each day. If you need a ride, contact Hancock County Central Dispatch at 228-255-9191 for assistance.

Due to anticipated cold weather conditions, two warming centers will open in Harrison County tonight, and subsequent nights as necessary.

  • D’Iberville – Kenny Fournier Multipurpose Center – Opens at 4:30 pm • 10395 Automall Parkway
  • D’Iberville Gulfport – Salvation Army Center of Hope – Opens at 6:00 pm • 2019 22nd Street, Gulfport

The Poplarville Community Saferoom located at 124 Rodeo Street will open as a warming center this afternoon, February 19th, 2025 at 4:00 PM and remain open until the threat has subsided. Pets are not allowed. Please bring anything you may need (food, water etc.)
