Cold weather shelters opening

Cold weather shelters will be opening due to the weather.

The Saferooms in Carriere and Picayune will open Friday at 4:00 PM and remain open until Sunday at Noon. Pets are not allowed. Please bring anything you may need (food/water etc.)

The Hancock County Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the Hancock County Board of Supervisors will open a Cold Weather Shelter, Friday, January 19, 2024 and Saturday, January 20, 2024.

The Cold Weather Shelter is located at the Emergency Operations Center Building at 18333 HWY 603 Kiln. The shelter will be open beginning at 7:00 PM until 8:00 AM each day.

If someone needs a ride to the shelter, contact Hancock County Central Dispatch at 228-255-9191 for assistance.

In D’Iberville, the Kenny Fournier Multipurpose Center opens Friday at 4:30 p.m. That shelter is located at 10395 Automall Parkway.

In Gulfport, the Salvation Army Center of Hope Shelter will open today at 6 p.m. at 2019 22nd Street.

Coast Transit Authority will provide transportation to the D’Iberville Shelter.
