Coffee Call with the Mayor

This morning, Diamondhead Mayor Tommy Schafer addressed city officials and residents to give an update on all things going on in the growing city.

The mayor spoke about the new and exciting things popping up across Diamondhead in the past year like the Bayou Drive and Vaught Circle kayak launch, the city’s new curbside recycling program, and the police department’s new body cameras.

Mayor Schafer also gave the group some insight into Diamondhead’s future and explained some projects they can expect to get underway in the next few months like the interstate 10 lighting project.  “Exit 60 at I-10 is presently not lit. It is dark at night. It is just a warm welcome interstate exchange. We keep it maintained very well. Could we use another lane? Yes. Does it get crowded in the afternoon? Yes, but the lighting is going to make it a much more warm welcoming exit.”
