CoastCon 47 brings fun for all ages

CoastCon 47 wrapped up on Sunday.

The annual convention opened their doors on Friday, pop culture fans coming to the Coast Coliseum for all things fandom.

Star Wars, anime, Nintendo, and so many more pop culture icons made for a fun weekend.

Board games and video games were available for checkout, giving all who attend a chance to meet a few friends.

As two con attendees show, those of all ages were able to have a fun time.

“One of the ones I consider my home convention is CoastCon because I’ve been coming since I was 30 years old,” said Kathy Beauford, a 79-year-old attendee. “I’ve missed a few when I didn’t know dates, but it’s warm, everyone knows each other. You sit down and talk and suddenly you’re not strangers anymore.”

“I like the Hello Kitty things, she is my favorite,” said Elise Beaushaw, a 7-year-old attendee. “I also like the costumed people.”

A familiar face out of New Orleans as well.

Uber Shrek made his way to CoastCon for the first time this year!

He became famous on TikTok after a video went viral, the video shows him driving a van featuring character faces while he dresses up as Shrek.
