Coastal cheer team places at world championship
A local cheer team placed at this year’s All-Star World Championship in Orlando, Florida May 6th through the 7th.
The senior team ‘Fire’ at Cheer Zone Athletics in Saucier placed third against nearly 100 teams from across the world.
Owner and Coach Sheila Perry told News 25 that the team was so happy to make it to the finals, but standing on the podium was the cherry on top.
They had two other teams place well. Mini Rain, their youngest team, placed 22nd out of 92 teams, and Whirlwind, ages nine through 11, placed 37 out of 86.
It is no doubt these kids are proud of themselves. Member Gracie Delmas said, “It feels amazing to know that we did more than what we expected ourselves to do. And that’s just something that I will cherish forever.”
Member Lucy Anderson said, “It felt good. Like, I liked being in front of all the people and showing them our performance and how far we’re come.”
Cheer Zone tryouts are the last weekend of May if you’re interested in joining the team.
