Coast residents preparing to light up the night sky on New Year’s Eve

People are preparing to light up the sky going into the new year and fireworks sales seem to be going well.

Wilson Fireworks in Ocean Springs is seeing a steady flow of customers looking to purchase fireworks, but CEO Barbara Wilson says a lot of people are waiting until the last minute to purchase fireworks.

Wilson says she has an array of different types of fireworks for sale, but because of shipping issues, she had to order them early and may not have as much volume as previous years. “We will tell you that right now, limited supply it’s been very difficult getting anything in across the sea. When it does get to the sea, it’s hard to get it across the railroads and everything from the port, sometimes they sit about five months.”

Wilson says popping fireworks is great way to ring in the New Year, but remember to be safe and read the directions before lighting any fireworks.
