Coast Residents Prepare to Head to D.C.
This Friday Governor Bryant will be in Washington D.C. for the inauguration of the 45th president, Donald J. Trump. Today, News 25 caught up with some people on the Coast preparing to head to D.C. for the big event.
Some people here on the Coast are looking forward to this historic event and preparing to head to D.C. later this week. Resident Kevin Fish is attending the Presidential Inauguration. He said, “I think it’s a momentous time in our country. I think it’s a huge change from where we’ve been the last eight years to hopefully a direction, a more positive direction that we’re going to be going in.”
Trump will deliver his inaugural address to a country still deeply divided by the election results. Resident Mark Cumbest is attending the Presidential Inauguration. He said, “I think for reasonable people, I really do believe that Donald Trump will reach out and negotiate, at least reach out to the Democrats, reach out to the people who’ve fought him even in the Republican ranks in the past to make America great again.”
According to a new Gallup poll, Trump will enter the presidency with an approval rating lower than his three predecessors. “I cannot understand why Trump has such a low approval rating at this point even after he has reached out and done the things he did with Ford and Carrier and keeping a lot of the businesses in the United States. I just don’t think he’s getting a fair shake,” said Cumbest.
Gulfport resident Kevin Fish says Trump wasn’t his number one Republican pick early on in the campaign. He has more positive feelings now after seeing Trump’s cabinet appointees. “We all still have doubts about what he’s going to do there because he is a little bit of a wild card, but again, the more decisions he makes during this time the better I think everybody feels about it.”
The Presidential Inauguration will begin Friday morning. Both Fish and Cumbest will leave Wednesday and arrive on time for the Mississippi soiree in D.C. that night.
