Coast residents attend Grillin’ on the Green in Biloxi

With a full view of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Biloxi Town Green was a great spot for the celebration.

Saturday’s block party, Grillin’ on the Green, was a festive affair as bead necklaces rained from the nearby parade.

Several live bands entertained guests all day and so did the food. The smell of ribs, brisket, seafood, and a variety of other delicacies drew hundreds of hungry families.

It was also a place where vendors could show off their goods, even those from well out of town. Lauren Cheramie, who came from Louisiana, set up shop for her business so she could interest some parade-goers. “I’m amazed by how many people came out for it and how big it was. I’m from Thibodeaux so we have big parades for Mardi Gras in New Orleans and things like that near us. And so, this was right there with it. It was big. The atmosphere, everyone is so nice, it’s been a wonderful event, the food is great, and everything’s been great since we’ve been here. I had a great turnout and Luxury Loads has definitely come to Biloxi.”

More than $6,000 was up for grabs for the barbecue cook-off.
