Coast Plans 29th Annual M.L.K. Celebration

Following the spirit of the holidays comes the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King’s national holiday is coming up and so is the 29th annual M.L.K. Coast-wide celebration.

The events will take place January 5th through 24th at several locations throughout south Mississippi’s coastal counties. This year’s celebration will include exciting and meaningful events, such as a Coast-wide youth summit, a Coast-wide gospel celebration, and many more. The theme for 2015 is ‘A New Movement in the Spirit of Ling.’ All activities will have something to do with moving toward a successful year with minorities, as well as others, coming together as a community.

Dr. Persharon Dixon says, “We definitely are seeing that there are still problems in our communities that plague minority communities in particular, so we want to make sure that not only are minorities aware of what’s going on and can speak to that, but that those who are in the majority come and join with us and we can talk and be able to resolve all problems together.”
