Coast mayors come together for March of the Mayors packing party

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Friday marked the final day of the March of the Mayors food drive as mayors and volunteers came together for a big packing party to help feed South Mississippi families.

For weeks, coastal cities have rallied their communities to donate shelf-stable food for local pantries.

The effort is part of Extra Table’s yearly statewide initiative on food insecurity.

After collecting thousands of donations, the Coast packing party at the Lyman Community Center put those items into food boxes, which are now headed straight back to local pantries.
