Coast Guard suspends search for children missing in Mississippi River

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for three missing children in New Orleans.

In a statement, the Coast Guard says they have exhausted all search efforts and have ‘made the difficult decision to suspend’ their active search for the three children, also saying their ‘prayers are with the families during this difficult time.’

A 15-year-old boy and two girls ages 14 and eight were last seen Saturday evening entering the water near the Crescent City Connection.

Rescue crews searched for a total of 55 hours, along more than 93 miles along the Mississippi River for the missing minors.
