Coast Fly Fishing Fair

Local fly fishing clubs along with Gulf Coast Council of Fly Fishers International are hosting the fourth annual Gulf Coast Fly Fishing Fair.
The fair will take place at the Ocean Springs Civic Center this coming Saturday. The public is invited to enjoy introductory classes, fly tying demonstrations, and regional fly fishing seminars from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Many of the best casting instructors and fly tiers in the region will be there. Anyone who has ever thought about learning to fly fish or just improving their skills will have a great opportunity to learn from the best. Jeff Deuschle with the Historic Ocean Springs Saltwater Fly Fishing Club said, “Many of us fish conventionally for a long time and then found fly fishing. It’s fishing unplugged. It’s a lot more basic, you know instead of electric guitar. If you fished a long time and you want to feel like a little kid again, fly fishing is something to try and if you think catching a red fish or a speckled trout on a light conventional rod is fun then you got to try a fly rod.”
Proceeds from the event Saturday will benefit programs at the USM Gulf Coast Research Lab, fly fishing programs, and conservation projects including a reef building project on Mobile Bay.
