Coast elementary schools competing to win Sparklight contest

A couple of Coast schools are competing in a contest that could earn them thousands of dollars.

Pass Christian Elementary and Ocean Springs Upper are competing in the Sparklight ‘Dream Bigger’ Contest.

They’re both finalists, making the list of top ten teams in the nation, but now they’re hoping to secure a spot in the top five to win money for their programs.

At Ocean Springs Upper Elementary, their computer science club meets on Monday and Wednesdays and this grant would help finance more club projects. Fifth grader Madelyn Duke said, “It’s just a really good club. You get to make new friends, learn about coding, and get smarter. It’s just a really fun learning class.”

Fifth grader Sirius Drahos said, “I really like playing with robots so I would really like some new robot kits.”

You can vote now for either school by visiting www.sparklight.com/contest. Voting ends March 31st.

If they end up in the top five, both schools will receive a $3,000 grant.
