Coast Electric sending crew to assist with storm recovery

Coast Electric is sending 20 linemen north to Carthage, Mississippi where last night’s storms resulted in damage and outages.

The men will help Central Electric return power to hundreds of Carthage residents.

The storm system last night cut through the entirety of Mississippi with multiple tornado warnings across the state.

The linemen from Coast Electric will spend a few days in the Carthage area. Coast Electric Communications Director April Lollar said, “They only have about 300 still without power, but because of the nature of the damage in that concentrated area, it takes a while to get folks back on. We expect to see a lot of broken poles, and broken poles take a lot of time to replace. So even though there’s not a high number of people with outages, the nature of the damage means they need some extra assistance.”

A tornado last night was confirmed in Vancleave.
