Coast Electric offices host food truck event benefiting American Heart Association
Coast Electric offices in Kiln, Gulfport, and Picayune hosted a variety of food trucks for the American Heart Association.
This is Coast Electric’s second annual event where they come together along with food vendors for a good cause.
The electric company’s employees chose the American Heart Association because they do very important research that prevents heart disease and stroke, which hits home for most employees, since most know someone who has suffered from one of those medical conditions.
Administrative Assistant Angie Crawford says they were able to collect $800 last year from just the Gulfport office, so they are excited to see what all three offices can bring in this year. “Coast Electric has seven cooperative principles that we do business by and live by. One of them is concern for the community. This is one way to give back. Not only are we giving back to the community, the employees really enjoy days like this. It’s a lot of camaraderie, a lot of interaction with our members. We just have a really good time doing this.”
A raffle winner will be drawn at the end of the event and that person will take 50 percent of the funds collected.
The other half, along with a portion from the food trucks, will go straight to the American Heart Association.
