Coast Electric and CoastConnect crews help residents impacted by ice storm

Coast Electric and CoastConnect crews traveled to Oxford on Monday to help with ice storm recovery efforts.
The crews are helping restore electric service to members of North East Mississippi Electric Power Association and connections to high-speed internet.
Ice storms caused significant damage to Oxford, which left 95 percent of North East Mississippi Electric’s system without service during the peak of the storm.
According to officials at North East, conditions are severe and they are telling members that this will not be a quick or simple process.
Coast Electric officials say that, just as cooperatives from across the country have come to their aid over the years, they will answer the call from sister cooperatives. This trip is the first time CoastConnect crews have helped with restoration efforts.
