Coast Coliseum holds Mississippi Municipal League Conference
Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney was in town this week.
Chaney was in town for the Mississippi Municipal League Conference, a three-day event which ended today. Several new Mississippi laws will go into effect on July 1st, including a bill on pet insurance.
The bill mandates that sellers disclose all exclusions, including those for pets with pre-existing conditions or hereditary disorders.
Commissioner Chaney says the bill provides transparency to pet owners. “Mississippi is the second state to pass a pet insurance law. We’ve always been able to sell pet insurance in the state of Mississippi, but this defines who can sell it one and number two, the training that’s required so consumers will know what they’re buying when they buy pet insurance.”
The pet insurance law will take effect on Saturday.
