Coast athletes find success at MHSAA 4A-7A cross country state championship
CLINTON, Miss. (WXXV) — Several Coast teams competed in the MHSAA 4A-7A cross country state championship meet over the weekend in Clinton.
The following individuals placed in the top 10 in their respective races — many of which had well over 100 runners. Additionally, two South Mississippi teams finished as state runners-up.
4A
Poplarville senior Abbi Vaughan placed 9th overall.
6A
Gautier’s girls team finished as the state runner-up. Freshman Yarissel Hernandez Rivera came in fourth place overall, and sophomore Jena Wells finished in sixth.
Pascagoula finished as the state runner-up in the boys’ race. Sophomore Eli Seaton was the first-place finisher, and freshman Joseph Washington came in fifth.

Ocean Springs runner Henry Danos finished in fourth place.
