Club Calls for Repeal of House Bill 1523

The Biloxi Business Men’s Club is making it known they support the LGBT community, calling for the repeal or nullification of House Bill 1523.

The club is a group of business representatives and professional men from Biloxi who discuss subjects related to government, the community and the general “good of Biloxi.” The Biloxi Business Men passed a resolution yesterday stating that they are not in favor of House Bill 1523. The club believes the City of Biloxi has long provided goods and services to all individuals regardless of race, creed, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.  Biloxi Business Club Secretary Treasurer Pat Byrd said, “It gives the wrong idea to other parts of the country. They don’t understand it. They don’t read it. They look at Mississippi like they have always looked at Mississippi and think that anything we do is either racist or violates someone’s constitution.”

The Biloxi Business Club tells News 25 they decided the bill does not preserve the rights of every individual. The club is requesting the state Legislature to repeal the bill as soon as possible.
